It has a product labeling system that covers forest management and chain of custody. The Chain of Custody (CoC) actually certified the path taken by raw materials, processed materials, finished products and co-products from the forest to the consumer.

For example, if one needs a FSC®  logo to appear on the printed material, we have to look for a certified printer.
The Need For Forest and Forest Product Management
The effects of deforestation will lead to loss of biodiversity, loss of fauna and flora species, disturbance in water body causing unbalance of water cycle, soil erosion, disturbance of the native people or infringement of indigenous people’s human right and most importantly climate change which all of us experience nowadays.

Hence there is a need for forest and forest product management.

FAQ For FSC Certification

1. What does FSC stand for
 Forest Stewardship Council

2. What is FSC certification
The Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC) is a non-profits organisation that set standards for forestry practices with the aim of promoting environmentally responsible and socially beneficial forestry. Wood products such as furniture can be labelled as FSC certified if they meet the high standards set by the organisation.

3. What are the two types of certifications The FSC provides?
There are two types of FSC certification: Forest Management and Chain of Custody. In both types of certification, independent FSC-accredited Certification Bodies ("certifiers") verify that all FSC-certified forests conform to the requirements contained within an FSC forest management standard.

4. Why is FSC important
FSC protects the rights of indigenous people to use the forest. If they have sacred sites in the forest, these are exempt from felling

5. What are social benefits of FSC certification?
Raise standards: FSC certification acts as a catalyst for improving standards in forest management. It brings economic benefits by opening up new markets and helps ensure social benefits to workers and local people, and facilitates environmental benefits for biodiversity and ecosystems.

6. How can I be sure that the product really is FSC-certified?
In addition to forest certification, the FSC system includes a certified chain of custody that tracks materials and products through every stage in the supply chain from the forest or point of reclamation to the point where it is finished and labelled. This is monitored through the invoicing process and the final label on the product has a code that confirms that the item is genuinely FSC.

7. What does the FSC label mean?
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) logo on a forest product is your assurance that it is made with, or contains, forest-based materials from FSC-certified forests or reclaimed sources.

8. Do FSC certified products cost more?
Like all products it depends on the availability but on the whole familiar items will be roughly the same price as non-FSC items.

9. How does FSC differ from other forest certification schemes?
FSC is therefore the only forest certification scheme endorsed by the major environmental charities including WWF and the Woodland Trust.

10. Is FSC certification mandatory?
Any company involved in the processing or transformation of FSC certified products (e.g. manufacturing, repackaging, pack-splitting, relabelling, cutting to size or adding other forest-based components to the product) must be FSC certified in order to apply an FSC label to their products and/or sell them with an FSC claim.
